Epic is an internet service provider.
Epic is a telecommunications company in Cyprus serving 500,000 subscribers with fiber speeds up to 5 Gbps and 5G mobile coverage across major urban areas. The company won Ookla’s Fastest Network award in Cyprus and scored 913 out of 1,000 on the Accenture network quality benchmark.
About Epic
Epic launched in 2004 as Areeba after receiving Cyprus’s second mobile telephony licence. The MTN Group acquired the company in 2007 and rebranded it to MTN Cyprus. In 2018, Monaco Telecom purchased the entire share capital for EUR 260 million. The company rebranded to Epic in June 2019.
Epic operates 251 employees from its headquarters in Nicosia. The company owns and operates its own fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network and mobile network infrastructure. This makes Epic one of only two operators in Cyprus with independent fiber infrastructure, alongside Cyta.
Epic competes directly with Cyta (the former state monopoly), Cablenet, and Primetel in the Cypriot broadband market. The Ookla Speedtest Awards recognized Epic as the fastest network in Cyprus based on consumer-initiated speed tests. The Accenture quality score of 913/1,000 places Epic among the top-performing operators in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Network and Coverage
Epic’s fiber network covers urban areas in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos. The company deploys GPON fiber-to-the-home with speeds from 1 Gbps to 5 Gbps. Average measured download speed on Epic fiber is 53.9 Mbps across all subscribers, including those on lower tiers.
The 5G mobile network operates in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca with ongoing expansion. 4G LTE covers approximately 98% of the population. Epic’s mobile network quality improved significantly since the Monaco Telecom acquisition, with increased investment in base station upgrades and new spectrum.
Plans and Pricing
Epic offers fiber, mobile, and bundled plans. Fiber is available only where Epic’s own FTTH network reaches.
| Plan | Speed | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epic Fiber 1G | 1 Gbps | EUR 29.99/month | WiFi Boost available |
| Epic Fiber 5G | 5 Gbps | EUR 39.99/month | Fastest residential option |
| Epic One | 1 Gbps fiber + 2 mobile + TV | EUR 39.99/month | 37 TV channels, 5G mobile |
| Home and Go | 100 Mbps + 100 GB mobile | EUR 35/month | Combined home and mobile |
The Epic One bundle is the flagship product. During the first 12 months, the fiber component is included free. After the promotional period, the fiber costs EUR 29.99 per month for 1 Gbps or EUR 39.99 per month for 5 Gbps.
All mobile plans include 5G access on compatible devices. Epic’s 5G Unlimited Max plans provide unlimited data without speed throttling.
Epic vs Cyta
Epic’s main competitor is Cyta, the government-owned incumbent. Cyta has wider rural coverage due to its legacy copper and newer fiber deployments. Epic competes on speed and pricing in urban areas where its fiber network is available. In head-to-head tests, Epic consistently records faster average speeds in Nicosia and Limassol.
Speed Test Tips
Test your Epic fiber connection using an ethernet cable for the most accurate result. WiFi adds overhead that reduces measured speed. For mobile speed tests, stand near a window or outdoors for stronger signal. Test at different times to compare off-peak and evening performance.
Test your Epic connection
After logging into your router, run a speed test to confirm Epic is delivering the throughput your plan promises. The widget below uses M-Lab's open NDT7 protocol — see the full speed test page for details on how the measurement works.
