Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Busuk ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you visit busuk.org (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect a deliberately small amount of information to operate the Service:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. These logs are retained according to Cloudflare's retention policy and are used for security, abuse prevention, and operational diagnostics.
- Speed test measurements. If you run the speed test, the test connects directly to a Measurement Lab (M-Lab) server using the open NDT7 protocol. M-Lab receives your IP address, throughput measurements, and timing data as part of the test. Their open data policy is documented at measurementlab.net/privacy. Busuk does not see or store individual speed test results.
- Voluntarily submitted information. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
What We Don't Do
To set expectations clearly:
- No advertising. Busuk does not display advertising. No ad networks, no AdSense, no retargeting pixels.
- No third-party analytics. We do not currently run Google Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, or any equivalent service. If this changes, we will update this policy and disclose the specific tool in use.
- No accounts. There is no signup, no login, no user profile. We do not collect names, passwords, or payment details because we never ask for them.
- No selling or sharing of data. We do not sell or share visitor information with third parties for marketing.
Cookies
Busuk uses minimal cookies. The only cookie set by the site itself stores your theme preference (light or dark mode) on your device. This cookie is not transmitted to us and contains no identifying information.
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling them may reset your theme preference on each visit but will not otherwise affect functionality.
Third-Party Services
The Service contains links to third-party websites including router manufacturer support pages, ISP portals, and reference resources. These third-party sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or data handling.
The speed test connects to Measurement Lab servers, an independent research consortium. Cloudflare provides hosting and CDN services and processes server logs accordingly.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share aggregated, non-identifying data in public reports about site usage. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@busuk.org and we will delete it.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have certain rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@busuk.org.
European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. The legal basis for processing your data is our legitimate interest in operating the Service. Contact us at privacy@busuk.org to exercise these rights.
Data Retention
Server logs are retained per Cloudflare's standard retention policy. Email correspondence is retained as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping.
Your Choices
You can:
- Disable cookies through your browser settings
- Use browser extensions to block scripts (the site will continue to function)
- Request deletion of any information you have voluntarily provided by emailing privacy@busuk.org
Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect data we hold. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
