Singtel, a subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Limited, is Singapore’s largest broadband provider. Current fibre plans range from 3Gbps to 10Gbps symmetrical, all with WiFi 7 routers. The provider uses XGS-PON technology for multi-gigabit speeds and was the first ISP in Singapore to offer 10Gbps residential broadband.
How to Login to Your Singtel Router
Connect to the WiFi network or plug a LAN cable into one of the router’s LAN ports. Open a browser and type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar.
Enter admin as the username. For the password, check the sticker on the bottom or back of your router. The provider sets a unique password per device rather than a universal default.
If 192.168.1.254 does not load, make sure you are on the correct network and not mobile data. Try typing http://192.168.1.254 with the full prefix. The Linksys E9450 (legacy business/gaming router) is the one exception, using 192.168.79.1 instead.
The My Singtel app handles basic network management. For full control over port forwarding, DHCP, and DNS settings, the web admin panel at 192.168.1.254 is required.

The TP-Link HB611-SGST is the standard WiFi 7 router for 3Gbps and 5Gbps plans. It operates on three bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz) with 320MHz channel bandwidth, 4096 QAM, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, and Multi-Link Operation (MLO). It has one 2.5GbE port, three GbE ports, and one USB 3.0 port. It supports EasyMesh for pairing with additional mesh units.
The TP-Link HB810 is the flagship for 10Gbps plans. It runs at BE22000 class with two 10GE ports, allowing wired devices to reach multi-gigabit speeds. Both WiFi 7 models hold Level 4 certification under the Singapore Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme.
The Askey RT5703W (branded as the “Singtel WiFi 6 Router”) is the AX5400 dual-band unit from previous-generation plans. It has Power, Internet, LAN, and Mesh LED indicators, plus WPS, power, and reset buttons. It runs in router mode when connected to an ONT, or automatically switches to AP mode when paired with an ONR.
Newer plans use an ONR (Optical Network Router) instead of a separate ONT. The ONR combines the fibre termination and routing functions into one device. Your WiFi router connects to the ONR’s LAN port. Older installations still use a standalone ONT (Nokia G-240W-F) with a separate router.

The 10Gbps plan uses XGS-PON infrastructure for true symmetrical 10Gbps. The TP-Link HB810 router included with this plan has 10GE ports to handle the full speed over wired connections.
5Gbps Pro Gamer Bundle
The gaming plan is a partnership between the provider and ASUS. It includes:
- ASUS RT-AX86U WiFi 6 gaming router with a dedicated 2.5GbE gaming port
- WTFast Gaming Private Network (24-month licence, single device) for optimized routing to game servers worldwide
- Entertainment add-ons: Amazon Prime (12 months), Disney+ Premium (12 months), Viu Premium (12 months), Microsoft 365 Family (3 months)
The RT-AX86U has AiProtection Pro security, advanced parental controls, and Mobile Game Mode via the ASUS Router app. It uses 192.168.50.1 as its default gateway, different from the standard 192.168.1.254.
EcoWiFi Energy Management
All WiFi 7 plans include EcoWiFi, a feature that reduces broadband equipment power consumption. It automatically manages unused WiFi bands when no devices are connected on those frequencies.
You can pause individual bands manually or set automated schedules through the router admin panel. For example, disabling the 6GHz band overnight when no WiFi 7 devices are active reduces energy usage without affecting WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 devices on the other bands.
Mesh WiFi Setup
Mesh plans include two WiFi 7 router units for whole-home coverage. The mesh system uses EasyMesh, a WiFi Alliance standard for multi-access-point networks.
Current mesh add-on pricing (with 24-month contract):
- 1 additional WiFi 7 node: S$19/month
- 2 additional nodes: S$35/month
- 3 additional nodes: S$47/month
Legacy WiFi 6 mesh extenders (still in use):
| Model | Manufacturer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Arcadyan WE620242-ST | Arcadyan | WiFi 6 mesh extender |
| Askey AP5690W | Askey | WiFi 6 mesh extender |
| Airties 4960R | Airties | WiFi 6 mesh router, ONT only |
For optimal mesh placement, position nodes halfway between the main router and the area with weak signal. Each node rebroadcasts the WiFi signal from the main unit.

Using Your Own Router with Singtel Fibre
The provider uses DHCP for residential plans. No PPPoE credentials or VLAN tagging are needed.
If you have an ONT (older installations):
- Disconnect the supplied router from the ONT.
- Plug your own router’s WAN port into the ONT’s LAN port 1.
- Set WAN to DHCP (automatic).
- Restart the ONT for 30 seconds, then power on your router.
If you have an ONR (newer installations):
- Connect your own router’s WAN port to the ONR’s LAN port.
- Set WAN to DHCP.
- The ONR handles fibre termination. Your router operates behind it.
No PPPoE and no VLAN tagging are required. If you subscribe to Singtel TV, configure IGMP proxy on your router for IPTV passthrough.
Troubleshooting Singtel Router Issues
Here are the most common problems and how to fix them.
-
Login page does not load. Verify you are on the correct network, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.254 with the prefix. If using the Linksys E9450, try 192.168.79.1. If using the ASUS RT-AX86U gaming router, try 192.168.50.1. Connect via LAN cable to rule out WiFi issues.
-
Password rejected. The password is on the router label, not a generic default. Try the serial number. A factory reset (hold the reset button 10-15 seconds) restores the label password.
-
Connected but no internet. Power cycle the ONT or ONR first, wait two minutes, then restart the router. Check for a solid green light on the ONT/ONR. A red or off light means the fibre line has a fault. Report through the My Singtel app or call 1688.
-
Slow Wi-Fi speeds. Test with a LAN cable first. If wired speed matches your plan, the issue is WiFi. Switch to the 5GHz or 6GHz band for nearby devices. For HDB flats with thick walls, add a mesh node. On the 10Gbps plan, use the 10GE port with a compatible NIC for full speed.
-
Red LOS light on ONT/ONR. This means the fibre line is down. Check the fibre cable from the wall point for bends or disconnection. Do not bend fibre cables sharply. If the cable is intact, report through the My Singtel app or call 1688.
-
WiFi drops in some rooms. Reposition the router centrally. In larger HDB flats or condos, add mesh nodes (S$19/month per node). Ensure the router is not stacked under devices or near microwaves. The 6GHz band on WiFi 7 routers offers less wall penetration, so use 5GHz for rooms behind walls.
Test your Singtel connection
After logging into your router, run a speed test to confirm Singtel is delivering the throughput your plan promises. The widget below uses M-Lab's open NDT7 protocol — see the full speed test page for details on how the measurement works.
